Traffic is encrypted with HTTPS, and per-user access policies ensure that only you and users you have shared with can access your data.

Signed-in users can share a specific pocket with another user by generating an invitation link. When the recipient opens and accepts the link, they can view and record entries in that pocket. Members of a shared pocket see the owner's nickname.

Yes — when signed in, backup and restore are handled automatically per account. Without signing in, data may be included in your iCloud device backup, but the developer cannot access those backups.
